Familie Karbon - Oswald und Ulrike mit den Kindern Matthias, Florian und Johannes

At the 15 stations along the way, visitors may discover plenty of information about the minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein and a time that was shaped by legends and myths.

The visitor learns interesting facts about the social hierarchy, life at the court and the historical figures (lords and damsels) as well as the “strict” table customs of the time. But a more colourful world of the epoch is also shown: The little dragon Dlawso, for example, the mascot of the Oswald von Wolkenstein Trail, protects a legendary treasure … and if you look closely, you may even discover a unicorn along the way! The Oswald von Wolkenstein Path takes hikers back in time to the Middle Ages.

Tour route:

From the roundabout in Seis walk for approx. 200 m along the main road towards Völs. At the next junction (Kohlstatt) turn left and then immediately right through a settlement to the access road to the valley station of the cable car Seiser Alm.

After another 50 m, turn right onto the access road to Hotel Salegg, where the circular trail begins. Always following the signs, you’ll first reach the Salegg ruins and from there almost flat through the Hauenstein forest to the Hauenstein ruins.

From there, the circular route continues in the direction of Bad Ratzes, where a detour to the children’s playground there is definitely worthwhile. We turn around on the forest road in Bad Ratzes and walk the same way back towards the ruins of Hauenstein. Shortly before that, the circular path branches off to the right and descends down towards Seis.

After a few 100 m you’ll reach another path where you keep to the left. Always following the signs, come back to the starting point of the Oswald von Wolkenstein path in a pleasant, almost flat hike.
